Nashville's Independent Mastering Celebrates Eight Years By Giving Back! From Grammy Winning Albums by John Prine and Tim O'Brien to Hit Records from Garth Brooks and Jimmy Buffet, in 2009 Independent Mastering Adds Second Studio and Will Give Away Complete Mastering Packages to Independent Artists

Nashville's Independent Mastering celebrates a successful eight-year run and the addition of a new studio by giving back to the music community. The company will launch a series of audio mastering giveaways to randomly selected independent artists throughout the remainder of 2009.

NASHVILLE, TN, March 30, 2009 /Country Music PR News/ -- Nashville's Independent Mastering Celebrates Eight Years By Giving Back Tenfold

Eric Conn and partner Don Cobb opened Independent Mastering in 2001 and, over the past eight years, have brought their studio to the forefront as an industry leader in audio post and CD mastering.

To celebrate Independent's successful eight-year run, they want to give back to the music community in the form of mastering giveaways to randomly selected independent artists, one per month to be more specific.

And why would they do all of this? Conn says, "We've had a lot of support from our clients over the years, some of whom we've never even met thanks to Internet FTP & FedEx. We felt it was time to give a little back to the community."

The halls of Independent Mastering are lined with Gold and Platinum albums that read like a who's who of popular music from Garth Brooks to Quincy Jones, Jimmie Buffett to Waylon Jennings, and a few modestly placed Grammy winners throughout including John Prine's Fair and Square and Tim O'Brien's Fiddler's Green.

2009 is off to a fantastic start with three John Waite projects in January including the complete re-mastering of Figure In A Landscape from the original source tapes, and added bonus tracks to Temple Bar and When You Were Mine. Also in the studio this year, Ray Benson, putting the final touches on Willie And The Wheel featuring Willie Nelson and Asleep At The Wheel (co produced by the late Jerry Wexler) and Nickel Creek's Sarah Watkins with producer John Paul Jones, of Led Zeppelin fame, wrapping an upcoming project for Nonesuch Records.

Independent is also kicking it into overdrive with the addition of a "B" room due to roll out in May. "We currently have three Sonic Solutions/SonicStudio workstations and one SADiE workstation on line all day, every day, in "A" room and a small editing room, but we can't handle the foot traffic. Adding a second suite will allow us to better streamline the workflow and have more room for attended sessions," says Conn.

Independent Mastering may be based in the Country Music capital, but their eclectic discography includes a variety of record labels, producers, artists, and engineers from around the world and within all genres of music from Rock, Country, Americana, Bluegrass and Folk to R&B, Urban, Rap, Gospel and Classical.

This state of the art mastering facility features a wide range of digital workstations and vintage analog gear. The studio works with all forms of digital audio, from CDs, DATs, AIFFs and WAVs to Pro Tools sessions. For older recordings on tape, baking is available and transfers can be made via a fully restored Ampex 351 with original electronics; 2, 3, or 4 track tape transfers are made to any customer-preferred media, and disc transfers of transcription lacquer or vinyl are delicately handled preserving the musicality and performance. Restoration work, featuring NoNOISE and Cedar systems, preserves the performance of the original tape or disc while bringing the media up to date for today's audiences.

Mastering is an art and a science for which balance can only be masterfully wielded by precise and trained ears. The Independent Mastering professional team of Eric Conn and Don Cobb ensures that quality and, in return, their client base has been solidly repetitive.

Eric Conn's career of over sixteen years has been devoted to entirely to music production, working in all genres for such artists as Joan Osborne, Skid Row, The Imperials, Young Buck, Janis Ian, John Prine, and many others. He worked at Doug Sax's Sheffield Lab Recording and Denny Purcell's Georgetown Masters in Nashville before opening Independent Mastering in 2001.

Don Cobb has over thirty years of experience in the recording field. As a recording and mix engineer he has worked for some of the top acts in the music industry including James Taylor, The Pointer Sisters, Quincy Jones, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Dan Fogelberg, Jimmy Buffett and Take 6. In 1987, Don was invited by the late Denny Purcell to join his staff, where he was introduced to the "black art" of mastering. Over the next fourteen years, he participated in the editing and mastering of hundreds of album projects. Since 2001, Don has had the continued pleasure of working with such artists as Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Alison Krauss and Tim O'Brien at Independent Mastering.

At Independent Mastering, there are no second engineers, no interns, no bargain night shift, and they don't "farm out" your job. When it's mastered here, you can be sure these two fine purveyors of quality do the work. There is no compromise.

"We work with you, making your album the best it can be. We read music, we play music, we live for music and we consider ourselves the very best at what we do," Conn adds. And their customers agree.
